A
Rogue
river raft trip is one of the two or three finest river journeys on the west
coast, and it is the only river where one can
stay in a comfortable wilderness lodge at night.
Most of our Rogue trips are camping trips, and we love
to camp on the Rogue's many fine beaches. But a stay in
a historic lodge certainly has its charms, not the least
of which are a hot shower at the end of the day and a
comfortable bed at night.
The Rogue river is an exceptionally beautiful stream that cascades through a
lush canyon
mantled in Douglas fir, western hemlock, oak and madrone. Fern grottos,
beautiful sandy beaches, sparkling waterfalls, lovely side streams,
historic homesteads, exquisitely carved rocks, and lively rapids combine to create a place that's pure magic.
The Rogue canyon is home to black bear and raccoons, to river otter, deer and
mink, to salmon and trout, and to osprey, blue heron and bald eagles. It's wild country and
wildlife is everywhere: more wildlife than you're likely to see from a
raft anywhere in the lower 48 states.
The Rogue's rapids are great fun, of course, but there's more here as well. Time and conditions permitting we may stop to explore the swimming holes at Howard Creek,
Mule Creek or Big Windy Creek,
pay a visit to an historic ranch or a gold-rush era cabin, or stop for a picnic lunch at the
waterfalls and jumping rocks at beautiful Flora Dell creek.
